THE H2 SPEED OPENS THE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW
THE MAGAZINE AUTOWEEK GIVES TO THE H2 SPEED THE PRESTIGIOUS “BEST CONCEPT AWARD” ON THE EXHIBITION OF THE 2016 GENEVA SHOW.
This project saw the light of day when Pininfarina decided to integrate the power unit developed by the engineering company into the heart of a supercar that it had conceived and designed.
The white prototype is the first car that the visitors to the 86th annual celebration of the motor car in Switzerland will see when they come into Hall 1 of the motor show.
The H2 SPEED is as much a high-performance car as it is a technical showcase. It demonstrates the quality of the high-power, hydrogen-electric propulsion solutions, developed since 2008 by the team of engineers under the direction of Jean-François Weber, which they have explored and implemented for all kinds of vehicles (heavy and urban transport, deliveries, refuse collection, assistance to people, collective transport, public works, etc.).
The H2 SPEED has been built around a carbon monocoque and clothed by Pininfarina with a robe that radiates both speed and elegance. The car is powered by an electric engine that draws its energy from a fuel cell fed by three hydrogen tanks.
No toxic emissions of particles or gas: the H2 SPEED emits nothing but water vapour into the atmosphere, the only residue from the electricity produced by the car’s fuel cell. It is generated when the hydrogen from the tanks and the air channelled to the cell meet and create instantaneously the electric energy used by the H2 SPEED’s two engines.
The H2 SPEED has carbon brakes and is shod with tyres specially developed by Michelin. It will begin its on-track development and testing in the hands of Olivier Panis chosen by Pininfarina and GreenGT as test driver and ambassador for the project.
